This shapefile contains ACORN classifications all of the postcode area polygons intersecting Buckinghamshire or the Buckinghamshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) administrative areas.
A Classification of Residential Neighbourhoods (ACORN) shows the distinct groups of people that live within Buckinghamshire. The county is made up of 10 ‘groups’ of households (which may alternatively be aggregated to 5 ‘categories’ or disaggregated to 56 more detailed ‘types’) whose residents all have very different demographic characteristics and lifestyles, which generally means that each group has different service needs. A further classification set named ‘Bucks ACORN Groups’ (with 10 groups) has also been created. The original 10 ‘ACORN Groups’ classifications have been slightly altered to form these 10 ‘Bucks ACORN’ Groups that are defined as best representing the range of socio-demographic groups in Buckinghamshire.
The 10 ‘Bucks ACORN’ Groups are:
1. Wealthy Mature Professionals
2. Villages with Wealthy Commuters
3. Well-off Managers
4. Affluent Greys
5. Flourishing Families
6. Urban Professionals
7. Secure Families
8. Settled Suburbia and Prudent Pensioners
9. Moderate Means
10. Hard Pressed |
